Assembly Centers
Sign Language: Participants try to communicate their names or different words using only sign language.
They use the provided AAC devices (iPads, switches, picture cards, etc) and try to communicate using only the devices without speaking.
Get in pairs or groups of three. While one person listens to white noise (to simulate sensory overload) the others are asking them questions they need to answer. This simulates an inability to focus due to sensory needs.
Interact with sensory tools that may be unfamiliar but are useful when working with individuals with Autism. Participants will determine strategies for how to best use these tools in their work environment.
