Communication Center 01
Sign Language: Participants try to communicate their names or different words using only sign language (the materials are provided to help them learn the letters). They can also complete a color-by-sign sheet.
-
Communication Center 02
They use the provided AAC devices (iPads, switches, picture cards, etc) to communicate and try to "say" sentences that have been laid out on the table with a partner.
-
Sensory Station 01
Students pair up or form groups of three. While one student listens to white noise (to simulate sensory overload) the other students use the picture cards provided to get them to guess the image on the card, while being distracted by the white noise. Then they switch so each student gets a turn.
-
Sensory Station 02
Grades K-2: Students split into 2 groups. One group plays with the various sensory bins while the other explores the sensory items (liquid mats, balls, body socks, etc).

Sensory Station 02
Grades 3-5: Students split into 2 groups. One group chooses from different bins containing sandpaper, glitter paper and other textured papers. They then tape these onto their clothes and complete funny exercises provided (this simulates sensory overload, distraction, and the inability to communicate what is bothering them). The other group explores with the sensory items (liquid mats, balls, body socks, etc).
